Hailing from Brisbane, Australia, Valvetrain fuse the grit of classic heavy rock with a modern metal edge, crafting a sound built on riffic energy, melodic muscle, and raw emotional weight. Formed around the creative core of lead vocalist and guitarist Mark and evolving into a powerhouse line‑up featuring Luke (vocals), Connor (lead guitar), Robert (drums), and Wayne (bass), the band have carved a distinct identity in Australia’s heavy music landscape.
Valvetrain draw influence from the full spectrum of hard rock and metal — from Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden through to Slipknot and Mastodon to modern titans like Sleep Token and Architects. This broad palette feeds into a sound that balances groove, melody, heaviness, and storytelling in equal measure.
Their latest album, Generations (2025), marks a defining moment in the band’s evolution. Written during a period of personal reflection, the title track explores themes of family, legacy, and the emotional ties that echo across time. The single has resonated powerfully with audiences, reaching over 71,000 YouTube views and becoming the band’s strongest launch to date.
The song also symbolizes generational shift within Valvetrain itself — featuring guest vocals from Mark’s son, Luke, whose performance was so impactful it led to his permanent addition to the band. Their shared vocals now give Valvetrain a powerful new dimension both on record and on stage.
Across their discography — Rust (2018), the remastered Valvetrain EP (originally 2016), Broken World (2022) and Generations (2025) — the band have consistently pushed forward, refining their sound without losing the honest, hard‑hitting core that defines them.
Valvetrain’s music is more than riffs and volume; it is a sonic forge of resistance, reflection, and progression, built on lived experience and family legacy. With their strongest line‑up to date, their most emotionally resonant material, and rapidly growing momentum, Valvetrain stand poised to expand their reach far beyond their Brisbane roots.
